A GUIDE FOR THE TRAVELLER’S SOUL

A

A Guide for the Travellers Soul in this post is for those afflicted with a yearning to travel or try new challenges yet have a list of prepared excuses why you haven’t started your plans.

Traveller – “One that goes on a trip or journey“
To ‘Yearn’ – “A feeling of intense longing for something”
Rose, Motenegro

I just had a random conversation with friends who had a young couple call into their art gallery. As it turns out the visitors have spent the last four years travelling around some of the world’s most beautiful locations on their yacht, not a bad way to spend your waking, and sleeping hours.

They were on a path defined by their desire for travel and from the conversation a long way from wanting to complete their voyage and ‘settle down’ Or have they already settled down? Two lives fulfilling their dream and what also impressed me was that they were taking their young children along with them. Expanding their horizon as a family, far beyond what most of us would experience in a lifetime.

The Restless Soul.

The restless soul can be easily appeased in this world we live in. Travel is incredibly cheap and efficient, literally everywhere is within 24 hours’ reach of where most of us live right now. There are very few excuses to hide from the experiences you can choose to explore.

Risk versus reward.

There are inherent risks with most things in life, appreciating them yet not letting them define you allows real freedom.  With a sense of purpose and a commitment to challenge yourself life becomes enriched. Each new step you take opens the road ahead to even more opportunities to experience a fulfilling life.

Open your door to new experiences.

If you go to work each day, come home, eat dinner, watch TV, get some sleep, get up, go to work, come home, watch TV get some sleep then do so with an exit plan. Avoid resigning yourself to such a life forever unless it’s all you wish for.

Are you currently having to live in a bubble by necessity? There are times in our lives when we have commitments that restrict our opportunities to change.

Write up dreams and goals you have. What you would be doing if you had no barriers to living your perfect life? If you have a partner, then discuss them together, find common ground that you both may have been unaware of.

Don’t wait for new experiences to come to you.

If you wait around long enough you will certainly be exposed to new experiences, some inevitable. The most common ones are –

  • Old age
  • Failing health
  • Death

So, who just want to wait for these to arrive? Whilst you have a choice start creating your own new experiences!

Travel is much more than sightseeing.

Travel leads to new experiences. New experiences lead to an enhanced YOU. So be bold, start your plans and shift your life!
