Can’t is The laziest word in the world.

C

I can’t possibly leave my job, I can’t do that right now, I can’t as I don’t know how to. I can’t risk starting a new life/business/relationship. I can’t drive a car. I can’t jump out of a plane. I can’t, I CANNOT.

screams pain doesn’t it.

My mum used to say, “Give it a go” and I heard this right up until she passed at 92. She never said ‘can’t’ even though there were many times in her life when she could have given up. She didn’t. Fortunately for me after she lost her first child, she pushed aside her grief and had me and then my two younger brothers as well. That takes strength. During the 1940’s she trained as a milliner and decided one day to start her own millinery business. Can’t’ didn’t come into it, as a single woman she left a secure job and became a success providing the latest headwear for the Sydney racing crowd and fashion models.

If it’s to be, it’s up to me.

Life is about taking risks to advance. Overcoming obstacles, challenging ourselves to succeed whether at a job, in sport, in education or at home. In today’s world, it can be an easy way out to just give in and give up before we reach our ultimate goals.

Are there things in your life you want to achieve yet have so far procrastinated on? We all have, so how can we turn our back on ‘can’t’ and start chasing those dreams?

Fortune favour’s the brave

The more you focus your efforts on an idea, + or -, you move closer to achieving it. The questions to ask are –

  • Why do I want to achieve ………….?
  • How can I achieve …………?
  • When would I want to achieve …………?
  • How will my life look like after I achieve…………?
  • What emotions will I feel after I achieve…………?

Fail to plan, plan to fail
